Give reviewers a private link. They choose a display name, select page content and add comments, replies and attachments. Copy suggested wording into your website as you make changes.

The designated owner can comment while signed into WordPress and approve or reopen feedback. Reviewers can edit or delete their own comments while the review is active.

Preview an uploaded image and save the original to the Media Library. For a smaller copy, choose its maximum width, compression quality and optional WebP output, then save or download the result.

Compression creates a separate copy. It does not replace the original. Media Library images are ordinarily public, so save only images intended for that use.

Reviewers can use Done! Notify Admin to tell the owner they have finished. Completion notifications are enabled on a fresh installation and use the site administrator address. Automatic daily or immediate alerts are optional and off by default.

Check the recipients before sharing a review. Existing notification settings are preserved when updating. Email delivery depends on the site’s mail setup.

Notifications shows owner-only failure counts and attempt times with safe retry controls. Successful WordPress mail handoff does not guarantee inbox delivery; raw mail errors and private review content are excluded from failure details.

Stop sharing revokes the link and reviewer sessions first. Choose Keep review data, or open the second confirmation to permanently delete this review’s comments, replies, screenshots and unsaved private attachments.

Images already saved to the Media Library, including compressed copies, remain. Owner and notification settings remain reusable. If cleanup is interrupted, resolve the reported issue and retry.

Every current feature is free. CommentMate supports one designated owner and one shared review workspace per site. Mobile includes touch creation and replies. Desktop remains recommended for full review work. Physical iOS/Android and actual mobile keyboards are not yet verified; some builder render and browser combinations remain untested.

Use WordPress 6.5+, PHP 8.1+, HTTPS, Sodium, InnoDB and durable private storage outside the public website folder. Choose a supported PHP 8.3 or later version for new hosting. Images and screenshots need GD; WebP needs GD WebP support and PDFs need Fileinfo. ZIP review downloads need PHP ZIP support. Multisite is not supported.

Each upload is limited to 5 MB, with up to three images and one PDF per message. Advanced shows feedback usage against the 25 MiB and 2,000-entry safeguards. Comments and their initial messages count separately; deleted entries count until cleanup. Private files default to 100 MiB, adjustable from 25–250 MiB.

Download review in Advanced creates a readable copy of feedback, replies and available private attachments. Saved Media Library images are referenced. Keep this private download safe; it does not replace a complete website backup.

Transfer ownership to an existing WordPress administrator when responsibility changes. The old owner loses CommentMate access, reviewer links and sessions stop, and notification recipients are cleared. The new owner reviews recipients before restarting notifications and sharing. If the owner account has been deleted, a site administrator can explicitly recover ownership.

Collapse sidebar page groups and reopen them when you select feedback. Minimise and resume unfinished comments or replies in the same tab. Failed saves retain the draft; failed files can be retried against the saved comment without posting its text again.

Drafts do not survive reload or tab close. A draft stays with its original page. The owner can repair a pin only when its placement warning appears, choosing a new target on that page. Individual invitations/expiry, full search/filtering and Pro features are not included.
